garb at a glance {& other things}

2.08.2011

1. garb glance Alright, its about time I start this idea of mine. Well, I really shouldn't say its my idea. Because a lot of people in the blogging world do this already. I've been thinking about doing it too for a long time, just never got to it. So I'll put my own personal style twist to the try. Here we go. {For the two photos of me, the credit goes to my sis. Thanks A!}
  • Tank {forever 21} Lately, I've fallen in love with floral prints. They remind me of spring, and oh how I wish for spring.
  • Cardigan {forever 21} A girl can never have too many cardigans. This girl can't, at least.
  • Shoes {charlotte russe} If I were to have seen these shoes a year ago, I would have said they were totally not my style. I might have even laughed at them. But this was one of those crazy occasions when I just went for it, stepped out of my comfort zone of style, and purchased the snake skin shoes. And I'm so glad I did. By the way, I got these babies for the price of $12 during the after holiday sales. Nothing beats a sweet deal.
  • Jeans {tj maxx} Even though they're not in the photos, I still love my skinny jeans.
  • My Face {this one's from God} So. I really don't know how else to say it, but I wanted to ramble about my face garb, if you will. I wear mostly Mary Kay make up; mineral powder foundation, vintage gold & honey spice eye colors, black mascara. And finally, suggested by this girl, Revlon's Just Bitten in Gothic lipstick/balm.

2. new books If you were to ask me what I enjoyed most about this Tuesday, I would tell you that it was dropping by the Half Priced Books store. I would tell you that the smell of fresh new books made me want to stay in the store for hours. I would tell you that finding a hard copy of Peter Pan made me happier beyond words. And I would also tell you  that holding a copy of Pride and Prejudice in my hands made me quite happy too. I would tell you that their together grand price added up to $7.
Well, you can ask me this because these two new lovelies are sitting on my book shelf at this moment. And I'm telling you, having new books makes my day.

3. wings for your candle I have the feeling this is going to become a regular on my blog posts. Sharing what I find makes me happy, so whenever I come across a piece of decor that catches my eye, I capture it and I put it here.
Aren't these just the uniquest things ever?!

4. more snow on the way The forecast predicts snow for tomorrow. Two to four inches. Which means {drum roll please} classes are canceled! I'm not gonna complain about the snow when it saves me from a week of trudging through Anatomy and Advanced Math homework. No way. No, I'm going to watch with thankfulness as the flakes fall, as I curl up with a book snug and warm on my bed.

5. my pencils Oh yes. I finally have them. Ever since last year sometime, I've been wanting a set of colored pencils, but not just any colored pencils, wood colored pencils. You know, the kind with the natural brown bark on them. They just turned out to be a lucky finding for me at the mall today. Score. {I also found some here.}

happy friday

2.04.2011

A battle was fought in our living room this evening. No worries, the soldiers were not over an inch tall. Let me just point out one of the great advantages of having younger siblings: you get the privileged of reliving playtime. It's wonderful.

Meet the newest addition to the collection of nature decorations in my room. This glass jar was originally filled with pine branches, but I needed something a little less holiday-ish. So naturally, I chose a random branch today on my walk.

I probably look at too many home decor magazines, tear out too many pages, tape too many of them to my wall. What can I say? They're my inspiration. Sigh sigh sigh. Just look at this bed. The design is so me.

Happy Friday, my lovelies!

First off, let me just tell you that Pottery Barn is one of my loves. Walking into the actual store is like walking into a world of bliss. Rich wood furniture. Gorgeous bedding. Stunning table top arrangements. Clever desk organizers. I've always been a big fan of home decor, and can't wait to design the interior of my own home one day. Being seventeen though, I've got a while to dream and be inspired.
Anyways, back on track. The newest copy of PB Teen came in the mail today. I saw this and just about jumped out of my skin. Tree branches around my wall decal. Why didn't I think of this? I'm really considering this idea for my desk area. The only thing holding me back is, how in the world did they get the branches on the wall?! I am however a little anxious about the idea of bolting trees into the sheet-rock. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I was reading through Carlotta's blog earlier and found something remarkable. Polyvore. Honestly, I've never heard of it before. So I've been playing around with it for the past few hours. I will go ahead and just admit that this could will most definitely easily become an addiction for me. You'll be seeing some of my trend set designs here in the future.

People. It's 71 degrees right now. Seventy one. I almost feel guilty sitting inside blogging when the weather is begging me to come out. This is not typical winter weather, but it is being thoroughly enjoyed.

I finished Marley and Me. I completely teared up at the end. The feeling of loosing a pet is one I know, and its awful. This book is one of my all time favorites. I've dug into another one already. Eat Pray Love. My mom watched the movie- I haven't seen it yet. Sadly, I don't think I've ever read a book before watching the film. This is apparently the best way to go about it- so I will. This is a good novel. A little too new age for my taste, but a sweet story really. The author describes food like no other. I swear my mouth was watering as I read the chapter about the Pizzeria in Italy.

We have a new mouse. Not the fluffy white sort, the slick black-smells-like-a-new-car kind. I'm here laughing at myself, it feels so out of the ordinary using a new model. I guess I'll get use to it.

what makes my monday

1.17.2011

1. straws
Let's admit it, these make beverages way more enjoyable. Or at least they do for me. Ever since I was a little kid, I've loved drinking out of a straw.

2. fine tip ink pen
In my opinion, this kind of pen is the best. It can handle detail print & I'm in love with the peachy-orange shade. An essential homework tool for sure.

3. decorative pillow
I bought this one from Urban Outfitters a few months ago for my bed. The flowered pattern really caught my eye for some reason, and it turned out to be one of my favorite decorative items ever.

4. organizing
So, I'm not the cleanest girl on the planet when it comes to my closet. I will admit, it can get pretty unruly at times. But there's nothing like the feeling of organizing my clothes piles and having everything looking spic and span.

What about you? What things make your Monday? I'd love to hear.

my typewriter...

11.16.2010

The other day, my neighbor called & said she had an old typewriter sitting in her garage and wondered if I wanted it. Absolutely. I have a thing for vintage pieces. And I love my new typewriter! It is in need of a new ribbon and ink, but it holds a piece of paper- as if it's ready to go to work.
So, it's sitting on my desk now, just lookn' pretty.
