the two dollar kind of camera

8.28.2011

It feels almost like betraying my precious Rebel, buying a new camera. But when that camera only costs me two bucks, I guess I could get over it. Some of my friends take all of their pictures with disposables, and I've really fallen in love with the vintage feel to their appearance. While there's absolutely nothing like a good quality photo, sometimes its good to take a break from the pro equipment and have some good 'ole fun.

My thoughts on disposables? I really like how convienient their size is. Tuck it in my purse and its good to go. I can whip it out whenever there's something that catches my eye. There's basically no hassle. You never know how the pictures are going to turn out, which adds an element of surprise to the experience. Turning in the little camera today, I knew I was going to get back something much more than just a stack of prints. I was getting back memories. Moments in time frozen on paper, to remember as long as I look at them. And isn't that what photography is really about?

  5. I used one at the zoo one year when I had forgotten my own. Mine NEVER turn out like this though so it was a waste for me.

  6. I haven't used a disposable camera for a very long time. My mom gave me one when we were going to a different country to take pictures, but that was over six years ago. This really, really makes me want to get one! I almost like it more than DSLR pictures. ;)

I've also really liked the quality of an Instagram photo from iPhone, even though I, unfortunately, don't have one.

  12. Me and disposable cameras haven't seen each other for ages. I know. Sad story. I took one to camp one year and bam -- it got lost. Oh well! There's no time like the present to get another one!
All those photos are gorgeous, amazing, and stunning. But it's because it's not about the camera you use but the photographer who's taking the pictures, right? :)
