my hair is still damp from a previous outing to the pool, wisps drying free around my face. some of us wear t-shirts over swimsuits, some of us go bare chested. flip flops slap the gravel as we make our way down the lane. the air is warm and there's a breeze that teases the meaning of a hot summer day like this. i sling my camera down from where it hangs on my shoulder and start to capture the half hour spent at the garden. birds sail across the ocean blue sky. bristly fibers rub against hands as we tug at stubborn carrots. the scent of earth and grass fills our nostrils. my siblings' laughter and an old country song stuck in my head play together like a soundtrack. and i am content in a place where we can just simply be and appreciate living.

  8. this is beautiful. I spent some time out in the garden last night...there is NOTHING better than blackberries and tomatoes from vine to mouth in two seconds, or long carrots pulled up with dirt clinging to their surfaces.
