serious blogging

1.27.2011

Yes, you heard correctly. Today I was on a picture taking high. Let me explain. For the past few weeks I've been unmotivated in my photography life. I didn't even feel the urge to take my camera out of the bag. I'm positive this was because of the dull winter weather. A miracle occurred this morning, a huge glorious ball of light rose above the horizon. I was thrilled. There's nothing that makes photography more enjoyable for me than having an endless supply of light at my disposal. I was undeniably satisfied with the series of captures I ended up with. And so its time for some serious blogging. I'm probably exceeding the limit for the amount of photos on one post. Please bare with me as I gush.

It was like seeing nature for the first time. I can only imagine how I appeared; leaning so close to the ground to capture those macroscopic plants, practically skipping across the leafy wet ground with pure joy. Seeing the slightest tint of green threw me into a loop of excitement. Please tell me I'm not the only one who's awaiting springtime.

E and S walked with me, constantly asking me to take their picture. This isn't something they usually do. Most of the times I have to bribe them with candy ask very nicely just to get a presentable photo. That long camera-deprived time period seemed to work magic on them. Their chocolate eyes could seriously melt hearts. {I'm entering this first one in Carlotta's weekly challenge.}

Hodge was just as excited to see me using my camera once again. His tail straightened like a board, let his tongue fly out the side of his mouth and sprinted around me. In most of these, he looks like a blur. I was lucky if he even ended up in the frame at all. But for some reason, I'm in love with each and every one. He is undoubtedly the definition of ecstasy.

Ha. Couldn't resist throwing these two in. These are just a few of Hodge's treasures you'll find in our front yard.

snow and other happenings

1.11.2011

1. a winter wonderland

I woke up yesterday morning to a world covered in white. It was gorgeous. Needless to say, we kids ran right out for some fantastical sledding. Hodge was totally wigging out, I don't think he's ever seen this much snow before.

2. another lens
I'm getting my second lens this Sunday {Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II}! Technically, I can't call it a "new" lens because its used. However, it is in great condition and I've been wanting another lens for ages. I'm no expert on lenses, so I've been reading on amazon the past few hours. As far as the reviews go for this one, I'm pretty sure I'm gonna love it. If any of you own this lens, could you give me some advice on it?

3. running out
Okay. I am slightly freaking out. As I was uploading more photos to this post, this little message popped up. Whoops! You're out of space. Purchase more storage. Photos are stored in your Picasa Web Albums account and are included in your 1 GB free quota for photos. Additional storage you purchase is shared between Gmail, Picasa Web Albums, and Google Docs, and is in addition to your free quota. Please, someone tell me this isn't true. Can anyone help me out of this? I'm off to drink a cup of tea to calm my nerves...

i ♥ faces "pets"...

12.12.2010

The theme this week over at i ♥ faces is "pets".
I can't tell you how excited I was to take some more of my sweet Hodge {like I don't  have billions of photos of him already}. He's such an amazing subject when it comes to a photoshoot. All he wants to do is to please me, listening intently to any small command I give him. I was just coming inside from the photoshoot, when I turned around and found him sitting on the porch. He was whining, his tail swaying from side to side. He wanted just one more picture.
Be sure to take a look at all the other pet photo entries!

...Couldn't let the day end without posting a few B&W photos.
I love shooting in black and white. What about you?

back to blogging...

For those of you who are wondering, I am still alive.
I haven't really had the time, the motivation to sit down and blog myself {although I am still reading your blogs}. I haven't been taking as many pictures as I usually do either. Maybe it's the busyness that comes with the soon-to-be-arriving holidays? With Thanksgiving break on its way, hopefully I'll squeeze in some blogging hours amongst the decorating & baking.
I have the Christmas music up here. c: Does everyone enjoy holiday music as much as I do?
Despite the chilly, wet weather, I managed to shoot one of Hodge & Mr. Cat today.
